Sometimes you find yourself in a dire situation and it is very difficult to get a tissue to ease yourself.
So many Ghanaians have resorted to all sort of objects just to clean themselves after nature calls.
These are some of the bizarre things we talking about.
1. Newspapers
People using newspapers as tissue after easing themselves is very common in Ghana, especially at the public toilets. Many are those who don’t see the danger in it, but have you ever wondered what the ink could do to you?
2. Corn Husk
If you’re on the farm, surrounded by only corn plants and there is no tissue available, we believe your only option will be to use anything the corn provide. Corn husk is mostly used by those in the rural areas, who cares about T-Roll when there is corn husk available.
3. Stones
Stones have been used before and it is one of the most bizarre things you could ever think of but hey! that was the only option at the time.
4. Sticks
Sticks have also found their way in between the cheeks of the unholy place. You can’t blame us, that was all we had at the moment.
5. Leaves
Leaves are sometimes used too but be careful with the type of leaf you use because you might end up with the wrong leaf that will itch for a long period of time. Many have fallen victims to this kind of leaf popularly known as “Nsansunu” in the Akan parlance.
6. Corn Hub (Aburo Dua)
Aburo dua is very common in Ghana and had been our T-Roll for ages before the invention of the tissue.
7. Plantain leaves
Usually, the dried leaves that hang loosely by the plant are cut and mashed soft and used as T-Roll. This is usually better because you don’t end up with any abrasions in your “down below”.
8. Walls
This is a very common practice among second cycle students who usually find themselves in the school toilet with no T-Roll and decide to use the wall as T-Roll. They’ve termed it as “twee paint” and if you really want to avoid germs, try not to touch the walls.
9. Cement Bag
Some people actually buy cement bag and use it as T-Roll without caring about what the residues of cement on the paper could do.
10. Rags
Rags have been one of the most common things used here as T-Roll in Ghana, might sound bizarre to you but here, it is normal. Any piece of cloth lying down could be used as a T-Roll.
